The Myakka Canopy Walkway offers a close-up view of life in the treetops of an oak/palm hammock. Suspended 25 feet above ground and extending 100 feet through the canopy, it provides a unique perspective on wildlife and plant life. The taller tower reaches 74 feet, offering panoramic views of wetlands and the prairie-hammock interface, where you might spot eagles, hawks, vultures, and soaring ospreys.
After a safety briefing and bike orientation, we set out to explore Florida's largest State Park. The majestic Myakka River winds through 58 square miles of wetlands, prairies, hammocks, and pinelands. Expect to see deer, alligators (from a safe distance), a variety of bird species, and more. This is the perfect tour for those wanting to experience old Florida's natural beauty at a relaxed pace.
